Guide To Keeping Yourself Motivated When Working From Home
Posted Under: Small Business
Do you make money online by staying at home? Sure not having to go to the workplace daily has its benefits. You won’t get caught in heavy traffic. You won’t be reprimanded by your boss for coming in late. And you won’t be bugged down by chatty officemates. However, working from home also got a few disadvantages. And one of them is losing your drive to work.
It’s important to start your every day right. Get up and get motivated. Before you hit your workstation desk, take a shower and get some breakfast. Also, dress for the job. Having no one seeing you isn’t an excuse for skipping personal grooming habits. Besides, wearing your pajamas, nighties or boxers is not really a great way to put you in a productive mood.
Since you’re just a few steps away from temptations, it’s more likely for you to give in to them. The snack-filled ref and the cable TV are just in the adjacent rooms. The bed is just upstairs. It seems like all the other parts of the house has become a distraction! What’s important is you try your best to focus on work. Set a schedule for working, and stick with it no matter what.
A great way to keep distractions at bay is by having your own office at home. It can be any unused space. It can be the garage, guest bedroom, or even the attic. Just make sure you can turn it into something that looks like an office. Install blinds or computer workstation furniture. Anything that will make the room look professional, for a professional who works from home.
Make a list of all the tasks you need to accomplish during the day. Also, give each one a deadline that you intend to meet. Check off each entry as soon as it’s done. Somewhere between tasks, reward yourself for meeting deadlines. But don’t extend your rewards or breaks; otherwise you’ll completely lose your motivation to work.
Your productivity is not constant throughout the day. There are times when you can seem to accomplish a lot. But there are other times when you can’t seem to finish anything at all. Find your most productive mood during the day. If it’s early in the morning, for example, do all your hardest tasks during such time.
Working from home can be both beneficial and disadvantageous. Losing your motivation to work can be very devastating. It may mean you going back to your previous job only after a matter of weeks. It’s okay to indulge in the pleasures of working from home. But do it only once in a while and never succumb to it completely.
