Harassment

There are a variety of types of harassment, but most often people tend to think in terms of sexual harassment, as they have read about this in the media.

In the area of sexual harassment, there are two categories defined as Quid Pro Quo and Hostile Environment. We’re talking about one category here and that is the one where someone asks for sexual favors in return for a promotion at work, or something similar.

The person committing this kind of faux pas is likely a supervisor who is being very open about what s/he wants from the person in return for a raise etc. There are a variety of ways this kind of behavior manifests itself and those include unwanted and unwelcome sexual advances, requests for favors of a sexual nature and/or physical or verbal sexually explicit comments.

Quid pro quo sexual harassment takes place when a supervisor asks an employee for sex in return for keeping their job. Any propositions that are blatant or even done on the sly are against the law and have no place at work. It only takes one incident of harassment to ruin a workplace and to create all kinds of problems that a business does not need to deal with. Harassment in a workplace will ruin a company’s reputation in no time flat, as everyone will be talking about it outside the office.

Either way, any kind of harassment needs to be dealt with swiftly and justice meted out quickly or the repercussions will continue in the workplace. Waiting until the issue of harassment raises its ugly head again is not a wise move for any company and they should immediately hire a competent investigations firm to handle the issue.

This is not the time to worry about how much something like this may cost.

You need an investigations firm who not only knows what they are doing, but writes their reports in such a way that they are admissible in court if need be. Make sure the investigations firm you select is one that has a reputation for fine work and is able to produce many references about their past cases and investigations.
