How to sell your expertise online

I am totally convinced that being able to design and produce videos (like the one above which took one hour to make!)selling your expertise is the way forward as I have had unlimited success using video to help the customers of my low cost replacement for small business accounting software (i.e. QuickBooks or Peachtree) learn new skills such as marketing or improving their sales. I am going to walk you through a very straight forward method that will show you how to turn your knowledge into valuable content and sell it through the internet to a world wide audience. Designing and creating your own product gives you a higher return on your investment, builds your confidence and allows you to refine and tune what you have so as you can sell more.
Ok lets get started I am going to assume you have heard of podcasts, iTunes and YouTube, these and online video are central to the approach I going to share with you. These platforms are absolutely brilliant for selling, promoting and building a reputation for whatever information products you have in mind, regardless of whether its how to upgrade your airline seat or replace your small business accounting software.
I cannot stress enough that the key to a good video is to use a technique called storyboarding, it sets out what you will say, how you will say it and helps you develop the detail of your ideas. The best way to create a plan or storyboard for your video is to use a slide making tool like Microsoft powerpoint or Apple Keynote, if you are familiar with these already then you are off to a great start. As you will see in a moment you can create your storyboard and produce your video without having to spend any money what so ever on even the lowest cost (apart from free of course) and best tools that money (if you had it) can buy to get your video out there making money.
The best tool I have found and used for producing video for podcast, YouTube and pc video format (Windows Media player or Quicktime) is Camtasia studio from a company called TechSmith, please watch their tutorials before downloading the free 30 day trial. My sound advice is to get your storyboard completed and watch all of the Camtasia Studio tutorials befor downloading the thirty day free trial as you want to make best use of this time to build your confidence and get your video to market.
OK this was a brief overview of what tools you have to have to hand and get to grips with and in the next lesson which hopefully will be published on this blog in the next few days (owners permitting) I will go through a detailed description of how I create my small business accounting software videos.
