Buying Solar Panels: How to Choose the Best Company

After you have decided that you are going to install solar power on your house, you need to find a dependable company to buy them from and to install them.  But how do you decide which company to select?  Following are a few tips to help you decide.

Find Out Other Ideas To Have Your Solar Power Fitted For Much Cheaper

Experience counts.  If you are lucky enough to reside in a location where solar panel installation has been ongoing, you may be able to find a company which has been in business for two or three decades.  If so, they should be able to provide plenty of references for you to call.  It will also be easy to investigate through the local Better Business Bureau to find out if they have a good reputation.

Ask them what equipment they recommend and then look for some manufacturer [reports on the internet|use the internet to locate some reviews of the manufacturers].   Find out what types of warranties come with the equipment.  In addition, find out the types of guarantees the builder offers on labor and quality of work.  You will generally find 10-year warranties on the solar panels and 3 to 10-year warranties on inverters, pumps and controls. You should have at least a one-year warranty for workmanship.

You Do Actually Reduce Your Costs By Building Your Own

Many Solar Panel Companies specialise only in the systems that are basically “off-grid” and you are advised to then make sure before you decide to engage there services if you wish to stay tied to the local grid.  Yes, there are specific differences between installing the two systems.  But off-grid systems are much more complex than on-grid systems.  An off grid installer will almost certainly be quite capable of connecting your system to the local power company, especially since since the person will be monitored by the local building inspectors.~There is no need to worry if an installer has experience only in off-grid systems and yours will be tied to the grid. While there are certainly differences in how the two systems are installed, off-grid system installation is much more complex. So an off-grid installer will probably be very capable of hooking up your system to the local power company. And, in any case, he or she will be monitored by the local building inspectors.}

Membership in a professional body for alternative power vendors might also be an indicator of quality.  But first find out what the requirements are to be a memeber of the organization before you decide to be impressed.  Memberships are voluntary, and mosy require only a membership a fee.  Other organizations (such as the Solar Energies Industries Association) require continuing education and field experience in to qualify for membership.

Word of mouth is most often the best recommendation. Do you know (or know of) someone who has just had solar panels installed? Ask them how it went with the company they used. You can also check your real estate office as the agents are often knowlegeable as to which contractors in the area are the most experienced.
