Various types of labeling equipment is used to print and apply labels to packages. Label applicators come in many different types. Some of the options out there include manual, automatic, semi-automated, print and apply, and RFID. Labeling equipment can be used for many different types of labels such as product information, shipping labels, inventory control, price information, and data collection.

Labeling equipment which is pressure sensitive is often easy to use and keep in good working order. There is manual labeling equipment made to apply individual labels to one item and high volume equipment built to quickly apply thousands of labels. The process is usually automated when labels need to be applied in high volumes. Machines will use a photo eye to detect when a product is coming down the conveyer belt to be labeled.

Semi automatic labeling equipment requires that an operator is standing by to tell the machine when to add the label. Print and apply labeling equipment is used when there are many different labels that need to be applied by the same machine. They are also a good idea if you have information such as serial numbers or batch numbers which change often. If you only have a small amount of labels you may be able to get by with a label dispenser. Many different containers can be used with semi-automatic labeling equipment especially round containers such as cans, jars, and bottles. These machines can reduce employee errors and increase productivity.

Overlap, full wrap, and partial labels all work with semi automatic labeling machines. Types of companies that regularly use semi automatic labeling equipment include electronics, cosmetics, agriculture, and pharmaceuticals. Automatic labeling equipment is very easy to operate. Since it does not use much power it has a low operating cost. To operate automatic labeling machines you will need a conveyer, head, and integrated control system.
