Safety First this winter

I am sure we are all aware of the dangers the winter weather can bring both in the workplace and at home. This is why we must all ensure that we are extra careful this winter to ensure we work and live in a safe environment and that accidents are kept to a minimum.

There are plenty of products on the market that will help us through the winter. Those who still like to ride the bicycle to work are recommended to buy a hi-visibility jacket to wear whilst en route. These are recommended all year round but especially so in winter when the chances are high that you will be riding to and from work in the dark (if not the dark, darker conditions). Other equipment such as lights should also be on the bikes of all riders to ensure any on-coming traffic can clearly see them.

In the workplace having the office areas as well as the surrounding area safe is important as you may be held responsible if there are any accidents which could affect business. Clients will also appreciate having a safe passage to your office. Ice is the main culprit during winter and if ice builds up around you office then investing in some salt packs and grit bins would be ideal to make the pathways and roads less slippy.

Safety signs are important (not to mention a legal requirement) for all businesses to warn people that there are hazards are around. Warning signs for thin ice or slippery areas are available and if your office is a sufferer of the bad weather this year, ensure you have the necessary signs to reduce the chances of an accident.

At home it is just as important (if not even more so, especially if you have children) so finding the right products to reduce the problems winter brings is easy. Magic Ice Melt is a great product as it dissolves ice and snow very quickly without leaving a mess and the fact that it is used by many airports and railways throughout the world shows how good a product it is. There is also the favourite De-icer that many people have been using on the cars for many years now and is still recommended if your car is victim of the ice.

Be ready for whatever the weather throws at us this year by ensuring you have all the necessary winter safety products and safety signs at your disposal
