Thinking About Going Self Employed?
Posted Under: General
Many people consider self employment ideas for going self employed at some point in their life. Especially when people begin to feel vulnerable as they do in times of economic uncertainty or turmoil.
Not many people would feel comfortable knowing that the next redundancy to be announced could be their own, would they? Or who likes to be told that that they are no longer required while the person that sucked up to the boss constantly yet did not have much skill gets to keep their job?
At this point in time, one realizes that the comfortable income that they were earning was only an exchange for the privilege of being valued as an employee. They realize or remember that a job is not for life, it is merely a business contract and they are expendable. People realize that either their income is determined by someone else, who then also has an effect on their health and well-being, or they realize that they can.
So what kind of self employment jobs do people actually do? Answer that question later on, it is not important just yet. The main reason for this is that it is essential that people first examine their likes and skills. This helps identify what self employed work they can do to earn money. Ask yourself this question, do you have an existing skill that you can use right now?
Maybe you have a skill that is transferable to a different style of work? Many people will not be successful by doing work that is not a good fit for their skill and ability. People will find it much harder to be successful by doing wok that does not inspire or motivate them.
Then ask yourself, do you wish to work full time or part time? Your personal psychology as well as finances will play an important decision here. For most people, although they may wish to answer full time, they will realize that they have to start part time.
The most logical decision is to start working for yourself part time. While you are earning a living on your full time job, you start learning and developing the skills to become truly independent and successful part time. Not many people wish to risk everything by quitting their job and merely hoping for the best. There is much more security in remaining in a job and building up your self employed business part time.
Additionally if you are going to work for yourself it is now your turn to tell yourself when you will work, what work you will do, and how you will do that work. Not many people are disciplined enough to get into a routine by jumping straight into working for themself full time, without first having built these skills up part time.
So these are essential things that you should consider before considering self employed job ideas of jobs that might be good for you.
