What does one need to do to become a good team leader? How can one earn the respect and trust of the members of the team? I am sure that the majority of people are fully aware as to just how important the role of a team leader which is why I have asked the above questions. I have asked a number of my friends what they thought were the answers to these questions:

I was speaking to a managing director of a well known professional front doors company about this very subject only last week. He stated that a respected manager should lead the team from the front and be seen to be in charge. They should work well under pressure, arrive on time for work, look smart and professional as well as having a positive attitude.

Another friend who offers a stuttering course in the UK had previously spent time in a management role within a large financial organisation. Approachable, fair, honest and trustworthy were just some of the words he used to describe what he believed were required.

You should not ask a member of the team to do something that you would not personally do yourself stated Ian who makes it possible for people to make cheaper mobile calls. I think, he continued, that the team leader should muck in with the rest of the staff; get their hands dirty if you like. They should also offer you full support whenever something goes wrong whether it be a work related issue or a personal issue.

Well there is quite a lot to take in; I hope that you team leaders have learnt a thing or two.

Profitibilty depends on a respected management being in place, by following some of the above tips and points should enable you to achieve this.

I hope these tips have provided you with the necessary information to become a professional and successful team leader; remember at the end of the day we can only try our best.
